Aftercare
How should you take care of your new tattoo? Let us tell you!
-
Leave the derm on for 3-6 days
-
You will get a fluid build up. This is blood, plasma, & excess ink (completely normal).
-
If you get a large fluid sack, you can lift a corner to drain it and press it back down or remove the derm early
-
-
Remove it by stretching it (like a command strip) or pulling it down over itself
-
Do not pull it away from yourself or you can cause irritation
-
-
Wash the area with unscented soap (Dial Gold or Dr Bronner’s are most common)
-
Moisturize with white lotion that’s fragrance free or Gallipot Healing Balm
-
Rub in a thin layer of moisturizer with clean hands until fully absorbed into the skin
-
Wash & moisturize 2-3 times a day
-
As it heals, it will get itchy and flaky (completely normal). Do not scratch or pick at it. The flaking will come off when you wash it. Smack the tattoo lightly instead of scratching.
-
For best results, keep using the 0.5oz balm once a day until it's gone (even after the 4 weeks)
-

-
Avoid vigorous activity for the first 24 hours (read: sweaty)
-
Do not swim for 2 weeks
-
Keep your fresh tattoo out of the sun for 2-4 weeks and then use sunscreen when you are in the sun

Your tattoo will take 2-4 weeks to fully heal. If you have a medical condition that can effect healing, it can be up to 6-8 weeks.
